BANGKOK, Jan 6 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha extended his best wish to Thai athletes and staff who were heading for the 10th ASEAN Para Games in the Philippines.
Gen Prayut met 500 athletes and staff who would participate in the games in Subic, the Philippines, on Jan 14-25. Thailand sends 318 athletes to compete in 16 sports including archery, athletics, badminton, boccia, chess, cycling, football-goalball, judo, weightlifting, swimming, bowling, volleyball, table tennis, wheelchair basketball and triathlon.
The prime minister thanked all the athletes for their patience, determination and devotion and said he wished they would win and value virtue.
He encouraged them to value disciplines.
“Disciplines are important guidelines for everyone. I would like to thank all coaches and staff for their dedicated coaching and contribution. The Thai athletes form a big squad and will participate in many sports. I and Thai people hope you will boost the national reputation and bring happiness to all Thai citizens… I wish all of you to be cultural ambassadors and promote Thailand through your contacts with athletes from countries,” Gen Prayut said.
He assured that the government prioritized the comprehensive development of sports. (TNA)
