BANGKOK, Dec 20 (TNA) – A partial solar eclipse will be
visible in Thailand’s skies on Dec 26 while observation sites will be set up
for safe viewing at main observatories and a network of 410 schools across the
country.
The National Astronomical Research Institute of
Thailand (NARIT) said Thai people can witness the partial solar eclipse in all
regions.
The maximum obstruction of the sun or about 80 per cent
can be seen in Yala’s Betong district, 56 per cent in Bangkok and 40 per cent
in Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district.
The celestial event, a ring of fire, caused by the outer
edges of the Sun peeking out around the moon will be visible in India, Sri
Lanka, Singapore, and Indonesia.
In Thailand, public members can observe the solar
eclipse through telescope fitted with filters from 9 am onward at four main
observation spots at the Princess Sirindhorn Astro Park in Chiang Mai’s Mae Rim
district and regional observatories in Nakhon Ratchasima, Chachoengsao and
Songkhla.
Other observation spots in each province can be found
in the NARIT website
