BANGKOK, Oct 28 (TNA) – Thais and foreign tourists throng
the Royal Barge Procession Exhibition displaying information and artefacts
related to the ancient procession rescheduled for December 12.
The Royal Barge Procession to be held on the occasion of the
King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s coronation was initially set for October 24. But the government has postponed it to
December 12 due to strong tides in the Chao Phraya River.
After being opened last Thursday, the Royal Barge Procession
Exhibition at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground in Bangkok has seen a large number
of visitors to learn about the elaborate ceremony.
The exhibition is divided in to different zones devoted for
the coronation, the barges, the royal regalia and oarsmen’s outfits.
Organized by the Culture Ministry, the exhibition is open
daily from 10 am to 10 pm until November 11.
On November 12, over 2,000 oarsmen will take part in the
grandeur procession of 52 royal vessels taking the King and Queen for a
Buddhist merit-making ceremony. (TNA)
