NONTHABURI, Oct 23 (TNA) — The Commerce Ministry inputs Thai brands to the TOPTHAI Flagship Store on the Tmall Global website of China and the store will be officially launched in November.
Somdet Susomboon, inspector-general of the Commerce Ministry and acting director-general of the Department of International Trade Promotion, said the trade war between China and the United States prompted the Commerce Ministry to increasingly promote Thai products through electronic commerce and the ministry considered the new TOPTHAI Flagship Store as a way to enable Thai operators to shift from offline business to online one.
The TOPTHAI Flagship Store is already on the Tmall Global website that is a business-to-consumer platform of the Alibaba Group. The website posted the highest sales in China and Thai products marketed through this channel are in the categories of Apparel Store, Personal Care Store, Beauty and Food Store.
The department plans to officially open the TOPTHAI Flagship Store in the China International Import Expo 2019 (CIIE 2019) set in Shanghai on Nov 5-20. The department will also launch promotional campaigns on the Singles’ Day (11.11) and direct marketing communications to its target groups of online and offline Chinese customers. About 40 companies selling fashion, food, health and beauty products have participated in the flagship store project.
Mr Somdet said the e-commerce market of China was valued at more than 24.12 trillion baht, the biggest in the world. The TOPTHAI Flagship Store model would be expanded to other potential markets including India, America and ASEAN, he said. (TNA)
