BANGKOK, Oct 15 (TNA) – Wat Phraram 9 Kanchanapisek has unveiled the mural painting project, depicting royal duties of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej throughout his 70-year reign, marking the third anniversary of his passing on Oct 13.
Dr Sumet Tantivejkul, Secretary General, Chaipattana Foundation told a press conference on Sunday that the mural painting, 2.2 metres high and 50.23 metres long was first planned and designed by Air Vice Marshal Arwut Ngernchooklin in 2006.
Master craftsman and painter, Montien Choosuaheung and his team started painting the balcony wall, surrounding the ubosot that houses the principal Buddha statute.
The murals were designed to propagate His Majesty King Bhumibol’s work philosophy, his life and his royally-initiated projects.
It will be completed in 2021 and will become a learning center for a new generation of young people about the life and works of the Great King.
The mural painting project costs around 20 million baht including installation of glass plate to protect murals and landscape beautification.
