BANGKOK, Oct 4 (TNA) –The Department of Energy Business will decide in two months which type of benzene should be ended in the country.
Nantika Thangsuphanich, director-general of the department, said there were five types of benzene in local markets and one should be excluded. She was referring to benzene 95, gasohol 91, gasohol 95, E20 and E85.
“Many kinds of petrol are the financial burdens of operators. We will make the best choice,” Miss Nantika said. She said that gasohol 91 was popular among motorcyclists.
According to her, apart from five kinds of benzene, four types of diesel are available in the country. Decisions on the types of petrol will based on local production, contracts of trading partners, and a plan to reduce subsidies for biofuel in the future.
The reduction in petrol types would cause refiners to invest, she said.
Miss Nantika also said that local petrol consumption increased by 4% this year because petrol prices declined and attracted the owners of gas-fueled vehicles to shift to petrol. (TNA)
