BANGKOK, Oct 2 (TNA) – MCOT and Sharp Thai have reached
an agreement to jointly introduce 8K technology in Thailand and an 8K studio at
MCOT’s headquarters.
MCOT president Kematat Paladesh and Sharp Thai Managing
Director Robert Wu signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in a ceremony on
Wednesday.
The MOU created an alliance for TV content production using
8K technology between MCOT and Sharp Thai, Kematat said in his remarks.
Under the agreement, Sharp Thai will provide 8K equipment
for producing TV content as well as share its knowhow on the 8K technology to
MCOT staff. Sharp Thai will also set up
“Sharp 8K Studio” as a center for learning and developing 8K technology.
Kematat said the cooperation with one of the world’s leading
manufacturers of high-quality electronics was a historic step which would
strengthen MCOT’s role as a leading media agency.
“Sharp is glad to support MCOT to set up 8K standards in
Thailand by providing necessary technical supporting and equipment,” Wu said.
With the cooperation, Sharp and MCOT would be able to create
8K quality videos for important events and deliver them globally, he added.
MCOT has planned to open the Sharp 8K Studio as a learning
center for Thai people at its media facilities.
It regards the cooperation with Sharp a historic step as it places great
importance on the government’s “Thailand 4.0 policy” that focuses on the
country’s transformation towards digital technology and innovations, an MCOT
statement says. (TNA)
