MUMBAI, Sept 26 (TNA) – Thailand and India have reached
an agreement on business deals worth over Bt4 billion in a business-matching
seminar held during an India visit by Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister
of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit.
Mr. Jurin is leading representatives of private companies in
the three-day trip to Mumbai and Chennai.
In the business-matching seminar in Mumbai on Wednesday, the
commerce minister witnessed the negotiations among the Thai and Indian
businesses as well as talks to build networks between Thai and Indian private
sector.
During the trip, Mr. Jurin also witnessed the signings of memorandum
of understandings (MoU) between several Thai and Indian business operators and
government agencies.
The MoUs cover five key businesses including rubber, rubber
wood, tapioca flour, construction materials, and logistic services.
The Thai minister also met Indian business leaders including
Kishore Biyani, the owner of Food Hall and Big Bazaar which are suppliers of
Thai food products in India.
Mr. Jurin said during the visit that although other
countries were being adversely affected by the China-US trade war, the Indian
economy had hardly felt the effect due to strong domestic consumption.(TNA)
