PHUKET, Sept 13 (TNA) — The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) plans to develop Phuket as a world-class destination for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) by presenting its marine beauty and cultural diversity.
TCEB president Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya said TCEB was joining forces with governmental and private organizations as well as local communities to promote Phuket as a world-class MICE destination.
“Phuket has been considerably developed and has potential to become a MICE city of international standard. Phuket will be a Mice city of the Andaman Sea and Asia,” he said.
Phuket was ready to be a MICE destination for its expanding international airport, 220 conference venues with 615 conference rooms, 600 hotels with 40,000 rooms, 18 ports including four marinas, and a light rail project, Mr Chiruit said.
TCEB and partners were pushing for the development of meeting venues including floating ones, personnel and recreational programs after meetings in Phuket. The development should help Thailand realize its goal of serving 34 million MICE travelers and generate 121 billion baht from MICE this year, he said. (TNA)
