BANGKOK, Sept 10 (TNA) – The Regional Comprehensive Economic
Partnership (RCEP) talks are on course for conclusion soon, Thai Deputy Prime
Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said on Tuesday.
At the end of the 51st ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting
(AEM), Mr. Jurin expressed his satisfaction over the progress of the RCEP talks
after 16 ASEAN members and dialogue partners agreed to conclude the negotiation
by the end of this month.
The result would then be submitted for leaders’ endorsement
at the ASEAN summit in November, he said.
Senior officials will hold the final round of RCEP talks in
Danang, Vietnam, from September 19 to September 27.
Jurin also praised growing trade value among ASEAN and
dialogue partners in East Asia, namely China, Japan and South Korea.
The ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting has agreed that the
final round of RCEP in Vietnam should reach their conclusion by the end of this
month.
Ten ASEAN members and six dialogue partners including China,
Japan, South Korea, Australia, India and New Zealand have begun the talks to
establish the RCEP since 2012. After the
endorsement in November, the signing of RCEP agreements will take place next
year.(TNA)
