BANGKOK, Sept 4 (TNA) – Myanmar’s commander-in-chief
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has met Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to
discuss military cooperation and drug suppression.
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing led a delegation of military
officers to pay a courtesy call on Gen Prayut, who is also Defence Minister, at
Government House on Tuesday.
The talks covered several topics of the bilateral ties,
apart from military cooperation.
Gen Prayut praised the long relationship of the two
neighboring countries and pledged to build closer relations to battle
narcotics, terrorism and fishery industry through numerous mechanisms.
Senior General Min Aug Hlaing expressed his condolences for
Thailand after the loss of Privy Council president and former prime minister
Gen Prem Tinsulanonda who passed away in May.
The visit by Myanmar’s most powerful military leader came as
Myanmar joins other ASEAN nations and the US in the first ASEAN-US Maritime
Exercise 2019. (TNA)
