UBON RATCHATHANI, Aug 30 (TNA) – Many northeastern provinces have been hit by heavy rain, influenced by tropical storm Podul.

In the provincial seat, a reservoir was eroded by flood and a 10-metre part of the reservoir wall was destroyed, causing water outflow into the Mun River. However, more volume of water has yet affected residents, living downstream.
In Roi Et, heavy rain triggered flood in the provincial seat. Several roads and at least 30 houses have been inundated.
In Sakon Nakhon, strong wind damaged about 60 houses at a village in Muang Sakon Nakhon district. The provincial meteorological office issued a warning for local residents to closely monitor the situation.
The meteorological department issued a weather warning on Friday, saying that tropical storm Podul declined to category 2 over Nakhon Pahanom and it covered Sakon Nakhon with maximum sustained wind of 55 km/hr.
It will pass Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu and Loei before declining to a low-pressure cell.
Thundershowers and isolated torrential rains are also possible. People should brace for the severe conditions that may cause flash flood. (TNA)
