BANGKOK, Oct 23 (TNA) – The permanent secretary for transport says a committee has been formed to investigate the controversial Zurich-Bangkok flight delay of Thai Airways International (THAI) within five days.
Chaiwat Thongkhamkhun, permanent secretary of the Transport Ministry, said THAI set up the committee to look into the delay blamed on pilots allegedly trying to force some passengers to vacate first-class seats on the recent flight for deadhead pilots.
He said the incident affected passengers and the image of the national airline and the newly appointed committee would gather information from all concerned parties. The investigation would be finished in five days and findings would be reported to Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Mr Chaiwat said.
Although the THAI management formed the probe committee, it would be impartial, he said.
Mr Chaiwat admitted that the image of the airline was affected as conflicting parties were voicing their criticisms on social media and thus exaggerating disputes. He hopes findings from the investigation would help resolve conflicts.(TNA)
