SAMUT PRAKAN, Oct 23 (TNA) – Huge crowds of people flock into Wat Bang Phli Yai in Bang Phli district to reserve space along the Sam Rong canal to participate in a traditional lotus reception ceremony.
The gathering stretched about 2 kilometers from the Bang Phli Yai municipal office to the Bang Phli district office for the world’s only lotus reception ceremony. The tradition falls on the 14th day of the 11th lunar month. As it coincides a national holiday this year, the number of participants including tourists is unusually high.
In the ceremony, a boat carrying an image of Luang Pho To is set to move from the Bang Phli Yai municipal office. The boat was beautifully decorated with traditional Thai patterns and images of deities. It will lead dozens of beautiful boats moving along the Sam Rong Canal. People on both banks will throw lotuses into the boats while witnessing the beautiful procession. (TNA)
