BANGKOK, Feb 6 — Twenty government agencies were urged today to accelerate their budget spending for the current 2015 fiscal year, which began October 1, after was found that their spending is lower than the target.
Manas Jamveha, director of the Comptroller General’s Department, presided over the meeting with 20 government offices after it was found that their spending was about 2.2 per cent lower than the planned target after four months of the 2015 fiscal year had already passed.
Speeding up the government’s budget spending would assist general economy in Thailand, especially while the country is facing a sluggish economy.
Meanwhile, the Industry Ministry’s Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion announced that Thailand’s trade and services confidence index last December rose to 53.6 from 45.7 in November.
The increase was seen in every sector, especially during the New Year’s celebration.
The Office said the rise was also seen during the last quarter of 2014.
It said the number of tourists visiting Thailand and domestic investment have continued to improve due to the current fall in global oil prices.
The Office has projected that trade and services index would fall to 53 from 58.5 in the next three months as prices of key agricultural products, especially rice and rubber continue declining, affecting farmers livelihood .
The expected decline of the index in the next three months is still above 50, reflecting that small- and medium-sized enterprises operators nationwide still have a strong confidence in the economy during the first quarter this year. (MCOT online news)
