BANGKOK, June 29 (TNA) – The government collected about 1.29 trillion baht during the first eight months of the current fiscal 2015, started from last October 1, 4.8 per cent higher than the same period of fiscal 2014, said Kritsada Chinawicharana, director-general of Finance Ministry’s Fiscal Policy Office.
Major factors which enabled the government to collect revenue 4.8 per cent higher than same period of 2014 were oil tax collection which was higher than the corresponding period of fiscal 2014, returning of additional revolving fund and collection of revenue from auction of 3G and 2.1GHz frequency, said Mr. Kritsada.
Disbursement by the government during the last October – this May totaled approximately 1.83 trillion baht, an increase of 5.5 per cent, from the corresponding period of fiscal 2014, he said.
Therefore, the government suffered budget deficit approximately 542 billion baht, plus deficit outside the budget totaling 1.42 billion baht, cuasing the government to suffer a total of about 543 billion baht, he said.
The government borrowed money to compensate the deficit totaling 181 billion baht and money left in the government coffer at the end of this May totaled 134 billion baht.
Mr. Kritsada explained that government spending of 1.83 trillion baht during the first eight months of fiscal 2015 or the increase of 5.5 per cent from the corresponding period of fiscal 2014 helped revive Thailand’s economy.(TNA)
