BANGKOK, March 1 (TNA) — Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on Friday hails the social media platform TikTok’s plans to invest US$8.8 billion in Thailand while TikTok expressed gratitude for the Thai government’s investment-friendly policies and the company was ready to support human resource skills development.
Helena Lersch, TikTok Technologies’ vice president of new market and public policy and her entourage, met Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra in Bangkok on Friday while she was visiting Thailand.
Ms Paetongtarn thanked TikTok for the cooperation and investment. She acknowledged that the platform wanted to increase the investment and she was very excited to meet Ms Lersch.

Meanwhile, Ms Lersch expressed gratitude for the Thai government’s support. She said the company planed to invest US$8.8 billion (305 billion baht) in Thailand over the next five years.
She said TikTok was very excite to be part of the investment in the country. TikTok has more than 50 million users worldwide and over 3 million users in Thailand.
Ms Lersch said she was informed that Ms Paetongtarn also has her own TikTok account so she was please with the success of the platform in Thailand.
She added that the company has more than 1,000 staff in Thailand which will help secure the safety of the platform and ensure the right direction of the application.
Ms Paetongtarn said TikTok application was very popular in Thailand so she wanted to inquire about the training of personnel in Thailand.
Ms Paetongtarn also hosted the welcoming reception for TikTok Technologies’ vice president and witnesses the exchange of Memorandum of Understanding on the digital cooperation between Ministry of Digital Technology and Society and TikTok Technologies at Santi Maitree building, the Government House.
