BANGKOK, July 19 (TNA) – The censure debate against some ministers has started with ministers from the Bhumjaithai Party being grilled first.
Opposition and Pheu Thai Party leader Cholnan Srikaew said the debate would begin with Bhumjaithai leader Anutin Charnvirakul and Saksayam Chidchob, the transport minister from the same party.
They would be questioned on the party’s policies and support for laws that had negative impacts on people, Dr Cholnan said.
The censure debate was set to continue for four days when 40 opposition MPs would deliver their speeches, the opposition leader said.
Meanwhile, Mr Anutin who is the public health minister and a deputy prime minister, said he had answers for all questions from the opposition and he was not concerned about issues related to the decriminalization of cannabis.
In this censure debate, the opposition targeted 11 cabinet ministers including the prime minister. It is the last no-confidence debate before political parties will compete in the next general election expected early next year.
The opposition will have 45 hours in the debate and the government and the chair of the debate will have 18 hours. The House will have its vote on the debate on July 23. (TNA)
