SAMUT SAKHON, Dec 18 (TNA) – Three more cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 were confirmed in Samut Sakhon province. They are the relatives of the first case who is a shrimp wholesaler at the market in Samut Sakhon.
Dr Anukul Thaithanan, director of Samut Sakhon Hospital, said one of the three was the 95-year-old bed-ridden mother of the wholesaler. The other two are an elder sister and a younger sister-in-law of the wholesaler.
The three people were asymptomatic but were quarantined at the hospital. Meanwhile, the wholesaler only lost her sense of smell and had body ache. X-rays found her lungs functioned normally.
Dr Anukul and health officials visited the shrimp market in Mahachai to search for the source of the transmission. Officials were trying to test all workers at the market and local people within two days. Royally sponsored COVID-19 testing vehicles were deployed to take swabs at the market.
The COVID-19 Information Center reported 16 new COVID-19 cases which raised the total to 4,297.
Fifteen of the new cases arrived from other countries and were quarantined and the other was the locally infected shrimp wholesaler in Samut Sakhon. (TNA)
