BANGKOK, Oct 5 (TNA) – The government is realizing the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project to attract investments and will organize the EEC Job and Skill Expo in the project site in the near future, according to authorities.
The government was seriously implementing the EEC project and all relevant organizations had to quickly raise awareness on the project and speed up its implementation with transparency to attract local and foreign investments to the project, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said.
“Human development is the most important. Workers must improve their skills to serve the investments of operators and suit the direction of national development. Meanwhile, local farmers and people will be included in the chain of development in order to promote new industries and simultaneously empower Thai farmers,” the prime minister said.
Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said the EEC Policy Committee that the prime minister chaired today acknowledged the plan to organize the EEC Job and Skill Expo in the EEC project site soon. The committee also approved several projects to promote the EEC.
They included a land bridge between the southern provinces of Chumphon and Ranong to link the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea and a Dry Port project to increase the inbound cargo container traffic at the Laem Chabang port in Chon Buri province to 2 million containers a year. (TNA)
