BANGKOK, September 24 (TNA) – Thai Parliament continued a debate on constitutional amendment for a second day on Thursday as a group of protesters held a rally outside the Parliament building.
Anti-government protesters gathered outside the Parliament compound to press for a constitution rewrite.
A joint debate of House of Representatives and Senate began the debate on six constitutional amendment motions on Wednesday. The debate was expected to continue no later than midnight on Thursday before a voting on each motion.
Of the six motions, one is proposed by the Pheu Thai Party, another by coalition parties and the rest from other opposition parties.
It is still unclear which motion will pass because a majority of the 750 members of both houses is needed. That majority must include one-third or 84 of the 250 senators and 20 percent of opposition MPs. Constitutional amendment is one of the demands of anti-government political movements that have staged a series of demonstrations. (TNA)
