BANGKOK, July 19 (TNA) – Protesters has withdrawn from the entrance of the parliament and returned to the nearby space, designated to accommodate their gathering.
Meanwhile, the police continue to station around the Parliament building to maintain order.
The situation outside the parliament has returned to normal after the first deputy House speaker from the Move Forward Party, Padipat Suntiphada came out to visit and talk with the demonstrators.
He asked them to return to the site at the administrative center of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration since the parliamentary session has not concluded yet and there are concerns about their safety.
He also revealed that he was not worried about the protesters’ plan to regroup in the evening, as it seemed unlikely to be violent. At the same time, officials focus on negotiations and a non-confrontational approach.
After the Constitutional Court ordered MFP leader Pita Limjaroenrat to cease his duties as an MP pending the court’s ruling, a group of demonstrators gathered outside the parliament and some let off smoke bombs.
The situation has returned to normalcy. Some protesters were seen climbing on a shipping container used to block access to the area around the parliament but no one tried to storm or throw any objects into the premises. (TNA)
