BANGKOK, Sept 23 (TNA) — Officials will take normal action to cope with an anti-government rally on Sept 24, said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha while warning of negative impacts on the country.
Gen Prayut said that he did not issue any special order in response to the demonstration and relevant officials would act in compliance with normal laws.
He said he only told officials to be patient and that he did not want conflicts to continue.
“I must thank parents for taking care of their children. Many incidents have proved that society is the judge. Today, learning is more important. There must be rationality, principles and reasons. There must not be an impact on general people. Otherwise, people and the country will lose opportunities. I would like to emphasize that no one will lose or win but the country will be damaged. I am more concerned about this,” Gen Prayut said.
The prime minister also said that whether the executive decree on public administration in emergency situations should be extended would depend on the situation of the coronavirus disease 2019. The decree enabled integrated efforts of all parties to fight against Covid-19 and control international trips for the purpose, he said.
The government would not abuse the decree for other purposes, Gen Prayut said. (TNA)
