BANGKOK, August 10 (TNA) – Thailand is set to begin electricity infrastructure project inside the special economic zone (SEZ) of the border province of Songkhla.
The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) on Monday signed an agreement on high-voltage electricity supply for the first phase of Songkhla SEZ.
This project which is due to complete in 120 days will guarantee sufficient power supply and facilitate industrial development in the region.
Located in Sadao district, the Songkhla SEZ is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises [SMEs] in the southern provinces.
The Songkhla SEZ is expected to attract companies from Malaysia and Singapore to invest in rubber, automotive, processed food, electronics and logistics sectors as well, according to IEAT officials. (TNA)
