BANGKOK, July 15 (TNA) – Police send a car floor mat with blood stains for DNA testing in search for a missing Chinese woman.
In a significant development in the case of a mysterious female body found dumped in a forest in Chachoengsao Province, Thai police have sent crucial evidence for DNA analysis.
A car floor mat with blood stains, discovered in the trunk of a rental car, has been submitted to the forensic department for examination. Authorities believe this could be linked to the disappearance of a Chinese woman and expect results by Friday.
Investigators from Bang Rak Police Station have also collected additional evidence from a hotel room near Sri Nakarin intersection in Bangkok, where the male Chinese suspect is thought to have stayed after the incident.
Forensic experts detected blood traces in the bathroom and near the sink using chemical tests that revealed blue luminescence. Similar blood stains were found in the rental car’s trunk area, potentially connecting the two crime scenes.
The autopsy of the deceased has proven challenging due to the advanced state of decomposition. While the exact cause of death remains unclear, medical examiners have conducted CT scans to analyze the remaining tissue.
Speculation about possible strangulation as the cause of death cannot be confirmed at this stage. However, if the DNA from the blood stains matches that of the missing person, it would strongly indicate the occurrence of a violent act.
Pol Maj Gen Noppasilp Poonsawat, Deputy Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, revealed that investigators have established a clear connection between the victim and the Chinese male suspect, with evidence suggesting they were together voluntarily.
The police are currently focusing on two possible motives: a romantic dispute or robbery.
As the investigation progresses, authorities are preparing to issue an arrest warrant and initiate extradition proceedings for the suspect who fled the country on July 3.
The discovery of the body in a forested area near a village in Mueang district, Chachoengsao province on July 13, has led police to believe it may be Ms. Yuan, the missing Chinese woman, based on evidence of cosmetic surgery matching her known medical history. -819 (TNA)
