BANGKOK, Oct 2 (TNA) – The Ministry of Culture will present the honorary cultural award to “Lisa” on October 3, designating her as a leader in promoting the cultural resources of Thailand.
The award ceremony is set to take place at the Thailand Cultural Center on Oct 3.
This year, the Ministry has established a special Wattanakunathorn Award, and it will be conferred to Ms. Lalisa Manobal, also known as Lisa, an internationally renowned artist and a member of the K-pop group BLACKPINK from South Korea, who was born and raised in Thailand.
Her role in promoting Thai culture have gained global recognition and popularity particularly in promoting the Thai culture through the dimension of Soft Power, such as donning traditional Thai attire and headdress in her solo album. It has resulted in people, both Thais and foreigners, purchasing and adorning themselves in Thai outfits. This has led to a significant increase in sales and supported local artisans.
Additionally, her mention of ‘Luk Chin Yuan Kin’ (Thai-style meatballs) with ‘Nam Prik Pao’ (Thai chili paste) sauce from Thailand has generated tremendous interest from her fans to taste the meatballs in Burirum.
Her social media posts featuring her trip to the ancient city of Ayutthaya boosted sales of Thai traditional clothing she wore. Her posts about Thai food and desserts have garnered millions of viewers, leading to a surge in the popularity and sales of various Thai dishes such as ‘Roti Sai Mai’ (cotton candy wrapped in roti), ‘Moo Krata’ (Thai BBQ).
