PHUKET, Sept 25 (TNA) – Tourists from Kazakhstan, who are exempt from visas to visit Thailand, arrived at Phuket International Airport and received a warm welcome from both government agencies and the local tourism sector in Phuket.
A total of 135 tourists from Kazakhstan, who traveled on flight KC563 operated by Air Astana, arrived at Phuket International Airport. This group is considered the first from Kazakhstan to enter Thailand under the visa exemption policy. The Thai government has introduced a policy granting free visas to tourists from Kazakhstan and China for five months, starting today and extending until February next year.
Upon their arrival, government agencies and the local tourism sector in Phuket jointly extended a warm welcome to the tourists, offering them jasmine garlands and elephant-print pants, popular souvenirs often bought by tourists visiting Thailand. This warm reception aimed to leave a lasting impression and smiles on the faces of the tourists.
Most tourists from Kazakhstan said they were visiting Phuket for the first time, traveling with their families, and planning to stay for up to 30 days, in accordance with the maximum time allowed under Thailand’s visa exemption policy.
When asked why they chose Phuket as their destination, they expressed a desire to experience the natural beauty and cuisine of Phuket. Additionally, they expressed admiration for the Thai government’s free visa policy and saw a promising future partnership between Kazakhstan and Thailand in the tourism sector.
In addition to the 135 tourists from Kazakhstan who arrived in Phuket today, this afternoon will see the arrival of tourists from China who are also exempt from visas. They will be arriving in Phuket on three separate flights from Hangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing. (TNA)
