BANGKOK, Sept 14 (TNA) – The Constitutional Court ended its deliberation on the disputed tenure of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha and planned to announce its ruling on Sept 30.
Constitutional Court judges today considered the minutes of the 501st meeting of the Constitution Drafting Committee on Sept 11, 2018. The meeting verified the reviewed minutes of the 500th meeting of the committee on Sept 7, 2018. It was reported that some members of the Constitution Drafting Committee made remarks on Gen Prayut’s tenure in the 500th meeting.
The House of Representatives sent the minutes to the Constitutional Court for its consideration. Earlier the opposition asked the court to rule if Gen Prayut already reached his eight-year prime ministerial tenure limit as stipulated by the constitution.
The court stated that it had enough witnesses and evidence for its ruling and thus set the announcement of its ruling at 3pm on Sept 30. (TNA)
