BANGKOK, July 9 (TNA) – The Royal Thai Armed Forces on Thursday held a celebration of the 60th
anniversary of its establishment that has been
postponed from March due to COVID-19 outbreak.
Chief of the Defence Forces General Pornpipat Benyasri led
commemorative parade and activities at the Royal Thai Armed Forces’
Headquarters, attended by representatives of the armed forces and
the Royal Thai Police and senior military officers.
General Pornpipat said the armed forces had to adapt to
changes and respond to complexities of the modern world.
An important challenge for the armed forces was to prepare
military personnel for complex missions and acquire new technologies, he said.
General Pornpipat, in his capacity of head of security of
the COVID-19 taskforce, said Thai people should
continue to adhere to disease control measures even though the situation has
much improved.
Security agencies were conducting strict enforcement to
prevent foreign travelers that could become super spreader of the coronavirus,
he said. (TNA)
