NONTHABURI, June 17 (TNA) — The Department of Health urged the management of schools to keep food and drinking water clean before their reopening.
Dr Danai Teewunda, deputy director-general of the department, said cleanliness and sanitization at schools would have to cover food, canteens and those in contact with food and drinking water to help contain the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to him, there must be sinks and soaps at the entrances of school canteens. People must be 1-2 meters apart in canteens and lunch hours can be staggered to prevent crowding.
Kitchens and canteens must be cleaned with detergent and disinfected with sodium hypochlorite 6% solution. Plates, spoons and forks must be cleaned with detergent and disinfected with hot water or sodium hypochlorite 6% solution. Food must be newly cooked or heated every two hours.
People preparing food must wear clean clothes, aprons and face masks, wash hands frequently, avoid touching faces, and use separate sets of knives and chopping boards for raw meat, cooked food, vegetables and fruits. If they are ill, they must take sick leaves and see a doctor at once.
For drinking water, water pipes, filters, tanks and water dispensers must be well maintained, cleaned and disinfected with sodium hypochlorite 6% solution. (TNA)
