BANGKOK, April 6 (TNA) — Charoen Pokphand Group (CP) has received its first surgical mask-making machine from China.
The reception happened four weeks after CP Group senior chairman Dhanin Chearavanont had announced to build a factory to produce surgical masks highly demanded in the country amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. He planned to distribute the products free of charge to medical personnel and Thai people in need.
The machine arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport in Samut Prakan province last night as the factory was 80% completed.
CP Group ordered automatic mask-making machines, each of which can produce 50,000 masks a day. The first machine arrived on the cargo flight YG9021 from China. The group expected to receive the second machine on April 9.
If the two machines are installed, they can produce 100,000 masks a day or 3 million masks a month altogether.
CP Group already moved the first machine to its factory. Later it will have teleconferences with foreign experts to work out machine installation and calibration. (TNA)
