SAMUT PRAKAN, Nov 5 (TNA) – The director of Suvarnabhumi airport has warned against the releases of floating lanterns, hot-air balloons and fireworks near the airport during the Loy Krathong float festival.
Suvarnabhumi airport director Wg Cdr Sutheerawat Suwannawat issued the warning ahead of the Loy Krathong festival on Nov 11.
The releases of floating lanterns, hot-air balloons and fireworks were popular for the Loy Krathong festival but such objects would jeopardize aircraft, the operation of the airport, public safety and property, he said.
Any party who would really have to release such objects in the way that would affect air transport would have to seek permission from local district chiefs and inform local air traffic controllers or the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand seven days in advance so that pilots could be warned beforehand, Wg Cdr Sutheerawat said.
Concerned officials were handing out leaflets to delivery the warning to local people, he said. (TNA)
