BANGKOK, Sept 27 (TNA) – China’s Minister Counsellor to Thailand, Yang Xin reiterated that the most important and urgent thing to ease tension in Hong Kong is to stop violence while reaffirming that Hong Kong will continue to be the financial and trading hub in the long run under the “One Country, Two Systems” concept.
The minister counsellor delivered a special speech at MCOT Pcl. during a seminar on the future of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, jointly organized by FM 100.5 and the Thai-China Journalists Association for interested persons and businesspeople to learn more about in-depth information on the Hong Kong situation after the protest erupted four months ago, calling for withdrawal of the highly controversial extradition bill and escalated into violence.
Yang said the situation has improved to the positive direction after the Hong Kong government issued several measures to stop crimes and violence, withdrew the controversial bill and tried to address Hong Kong’s housing problems.
He reiterated that it was urgent and important to stop violence and China supported Hong Kong leader and the police to adhere to the law strictly in handling the situation.
China reaffirmed that the One Country Two System policy is the perfect system that will attribute to development and prosperity of Hong Kong in the future.
Regarding economic cooperation with Thailand, he said the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office was established in Thailand in April this year for further cooperation with Thailand and boosting investment in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). (TNA)
