BANGKOK, Sept 12 (TNA) – Seventeen Chinese nationals have
been arrested in Thailand for allegedly conducting illegal money transactions for online casinos in China.
The suspects operated the illegal service out of a
condominium in Chon Buri province, said Immigration Bureau chief Pol Lt General
Sompong Chingduang in a press briefing on Thursday.
They were found with over 10 notebook computers, 300 mobile
phones inside the room, he said.
These suspects performed as “middlemen” by receiving money
from gamblers and transfer it to the gambling dens via Alipay, said Lt Pol General
Sompong.
Daily transaction was around 2 million yuan, he said.
All of them entered Thailand on tourist visas and received
Bt40,000 monthly salary each. They are
charged with working without work permits and will be blacklisted pending
deportations.(TNA)
