BANGKOK, Aug 28 (TNA) — The Public Health Ministry is opening 26 marijuana clinics to provide patients with access to safe and standard marijuana medication certified by the Department of Medical Sciences.
Dr Sukhum Karnchanapimai, permanent secretary for health, said that of the new clinics, 13 were of modern medicine and the rest facilities were of traditional medicine. The traditional medicine clinics will open on Sept 2 and provide marijuana oil and traditional medicine with marijuana content.
Chaopraya Abhaiphubejhr Hospital would have produced 150,000 bottles of marijuana oil by January next year, he said.
Dr Sukhum said patients of the new clinics would be followed up to evaluate treatment effectiveness and be eligible to additional treatment if they developed complications.
He also said that his ministry would be training health personnel at marijuana clinics and developing an e-training course for other interested parties.
Such clinics had prescribed 76 patients marijuana oil to treat several illnesses including terminal cancer, epilepsy, resistance in Parkinson’s disease and peripheral neuropathy, Dr Sukhum said. (TNA)
