BANGKOK, July 4 (TNA) – Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwon ordered officials to assist the victims in the shooting and bombing attacks in Yala’s Yaha district and to speed up investigation to find the culprits.
The Ministry of Defense’s deputy spokesperson Col Phatchasak Patirupanon said that Gen Prawit expressed sorrow over the shooting and bombing attacks on villagers and defense volunteers on Wednesday.
The deputy prime minister instructed the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc) and agencies concerned to provide urgent assistance to families of the dead victims and those, who were wounded.
Gen Prawit ordered the police to accelerating investigation to find the culprits and the masterminds behind the attacks. Local residents were asked to report any irregularity and provide tip-offs to security officials.
He instructed the security agencies to carry out intelligence on the movement of suspected insurgents and to beef up security to prevent violence.
Initially, it is believed that the attacks were the work of those, who lost interest and wanted to discredit the government.
Two villagers were shot in a rubber plantation. One was killed and the other was injured. Officials, responding to the shooting attack were ambushed by a bomb. One defense volunteer was killed and three others were wounded. (TNA)
