BANGKOK, May 29 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha offered his condolences on violent incidents in the far South and insisted on tight security measures.
Gen Prayut, also chief of the National Council for Peace and Order, mentioned recent violent incidents in southern border provinces where several people were killed and injured. He said that the government had strict measures to ensure security in the region.
A main measure concerned searches on all passing vehicles. It might affect people’s conveniences but they should cooperate, the prime minister said.
Inner urban areas were under special security measures because, during the Muslim fasting month, militants usually launched violent attacks to show their existence, he said.
Gen Prayut said he ordered concerned officials to check and maintain all security cameras to arrest suspects as soon as possible. He condemned those behind violent incidents. (TNA)
