BANGKOK, March 22 (TNA) – The Thai Women Network in the UK is seeking help for the family of a Thai woman, whose body was finally identified 15 years after being found dead in Northern England.
The president of the network, Setthinaree Veness met Thai Justice Ministry deputy permanent secretary, Tawatchai Thaikyo to discuss procedures to bring Lamduan Seekanya back to her home for proper religious ceremonies in Udon Thani.
Lamduan’s body was found in the Yorkshire Dales national park and lay buried as an unidentified Asian woman. Local people called her the Lady of the Hills.
Tawatchai said he would contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to proceed with the case. Lamduan’s parents signed necessary documents to authorize the network president to arrange the ceremony for the body of Lamduan in the UK on their behalf and to return the ashes home.
According to the UK police, Lamduan was not raped. No wound was found on her body.
Lamduan married a British man, David Armitage and moved to the UK in 1991 and 13 years later, she lost contact with her family in Thailand.
Last year, Lamduan’s relative in the UK told Lamduan’s mother to seek help from Thai Women Network in the UK to find Lamduan.
Then, the DNA samples of Lamduan’s parents were collected for the test. The North Yorkshire police confirmed on Wednesday that it matched the Lady of the Hills. (TNA)
