BANGKOK, Feb 25 (TNA) — The Board of Investment (BoI) resolved to offer promotional privileges to five large-scaled projects with combined investment estimation worth more than 40 billion baht.
BoI secretary-general Duangjai Asawachintachit said the BoI chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha approved privileges for the five projects worth 40.46 billion baht in the transport sector.
One project belongs to AW (Thailand) Co that will invest 7.24 billion baht in producing automatic transmission gears in Chon Buri province. In another project, General Rubber (Thailand) will invest 9.72 billion baht in using local natural rubber to manufacture tires. Xunning Ju receives BoI’s assistance for a similar tire project worth 10.06 billion baht in Chon Buri.
Besides, Thai Airways International and its partner win BoI’s privileges for a 6.47-billion-baht aircraft maintenance center project in Rayong province. Thai Lion Mentari Co obtains BoI’s support for its low-cost airline project worth 6.97 billion baht for domestic and international flight services.
BoI also agreed to offer promotional privileges for oil refineries to upgrade their refining services to meet the Euro 5 emission standard, up from the Euro 4 standard. Refiners will be exempted from tariffs on the machines they would import to meet the Euro 5 standard. (TNA)
