NARATHIWAT, Feb 20 (TNA) – A crocodile was spotted off Narathat beach in Narathiwat, prompting local authorities to impose a swimming ban for the safety of tourists.
A villager reported a crocodile sighting yesterday to the local fisheries office.
Officials inspected the site and found more than two-metre-long crocodile floating about 60 metres from shore.
An attempt to catch the crocodile by experts from the Southern Inland Fisheries Protect and Suppression Center will begin this evening.
Narathat beach is frequented by tourists.
Niphon Sane-in, acting head of the provincial fisheries office said no crocodile in captivity is on the loose after he checked with local crocodile raisers in Takbai district.
