BANGKOK, Feb 14 (TNA) – Police raided Bangkok’s suburban
houses for pirated cosmetics under many well-known international brands.
Police and officials of the Food and Drug Administration and
the Intellectual Property Department searched five locations in Bangkok’s
suburb. Among them was house number 111/600 on Sai Mai 13 Road in Amarin Niwet
housing estate 3 in Sai Mai district.
They found about 80,000 fake cosmetic products of many
brands including MAC, Nak, CHANEL, Lancome, Lacoste, DKNY and Dior.
Pol Lt Gen Surachate Hakparn, chief of the Immigration
Bureau, said the raids on five locations found about 180,000 pirated cosmetic
products which caused damage worth about 300 million baht. The fake products
were sold via social media.
Police arrested two suspects: Mrs Renu Imsamai, 62, and Mr
Chanalert Rujipaiboon, 45. They were charged with possessing pirated products
for sale. (TNA)
