BANGKOK, Feb 14 (TNA) – Energy Absolute Pcl. (EA), Thai alternative energy company unveiled an electric ferry prototype, expected to ply the Chao Phraya River at the end of this year.
Amorn Sapthaweekul, Deputy CEO at EA Pcl. said that after the company introduced MINE Mobility, Thai brand electric car in March last year.
The battery technology is used to create the electric ferry, which will be operational for boat passengers at Chao Phraya River from Nonthaburi pier to Wat Ratcha Singkhon pier for the 20-km distance.
The whole boat trip will take 40 minutes.
Under the investment plan, the company will build 54 electric ferries, worth one billion baht.
The electric ferry service will start at the end of this year and the whole fleet will be operated by Feb 2020.
The 24-metre long and 7-metre wide electric ferry has passenger capacity of 200 people. (TNA)
