TRANG, Feb 12 (TNA) – The Chamber of Commerce of the
southern Trang province warmly welcomed 19 couples of lovers to its annual
underwater wedding ceremony and 10 couples of them will have their marriage registered
underwater.
The reception took place at Thumrin Thana Hotel in Muang
Trang district at 9am on Feb 12 to welcome the participants to the 23rd event
of the annual Trang Underwater Wedding Ceremony set for Feb 12-14 to mark the
Valentine’s Day and promote local tourism.
Pichai Manasut, chairman of the Trang Chamber of Commerce,
delivered his speech and bouquets to welcome 19 couples to be wedded. Then he
struck a gong to ceremonially open the annual wedding tradition of the southern
province.
The couples showed their affection towards each other and
happily posed for photos. Then they were divided in three groups and went to Na
Yong, Huai Yod and Kantang districts for their pre-wedding photo sessions at
local tourist attractions.
At 5pm today they will join a 500-meter-long procession with
20 drum troupes and dancers from the Trang train station to the clock tower of
Trang municipality where they will be wedded.
Tomorrow 10 couples will dive to have their marriage
registered in front of the Emerald Cave in Kantang district. (TNA)
