BANGKOK, Feb 11 (TNA) – The Department of Industrial Works gave test equipment for HCFCs to the Customs Department to prevent smuggling of the ozone-depleting substances.
Director-General of the Department of Industrial Works,Thongchai Chawalitpichaet said that the equipment will be sent to customs officials for use at border checkpoints
So far, it has already handed out 30 test apparatuses to the Customs Department.
The Department of Industrial Works is the key agency, working to phase out consumption and production of HCFCs to comply with the Montreal Protocol on ozone-depleting substances. Thailand receives assistance from the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol.
Hydrochlorofluorocarbons, commonly known as HCFCs are used for refrigeration, aerosol propellants, foam manufacture and air conditioning. (TNA)
