NONGKHAI, Jan 30 (TNA) – After the cremation rite of the late much-revered monk, Luang Por Koon Parisutho, all of his ashes have been scattered onto the Mekong River as he requested in his will.
After the cremation rite at Buddhamonton Isan in Khon Kaen, his ashes were collected this morning , witnessed by the provincial governor, the dean of Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University and the late abbot’s family members.
The ashes were placed into a stainless steel box, locked by four keys. Four keyholders are the governor, the dean and two district chiefs.
The procession transported his ashes for 200 km. from the cremation site to Nong Khai province.
His disciples and worshippers lined up along the section of the river where the ceremony took place.
The officials of the Mekong Riverine Unit will carry the ashes in a boat and scatter all of it at the submerged pagoda in the middle of the Mekong River this afternoon. (TNA)
