BANGKOK, DEC 12 (TNA) – Thai police arrest five suspects
for operating illegal cosmetic surgeries resulting in several botched surgeries.
The five suspects included two physicians with licenses but
not certified surgeons to perform cosmetic surgery, said Pol Lt-General
Surachet Hakpan in a press briefing on Wednesday.
The group advertised their service at low prices such as
Bt20,000 for breast augmentation, he said, but many patients suffered serious
infections or bleeding from burst stitches.
Beside the doctors, there was an agent, clinic owner and
reviewer. They have been charged for seriously injuring other people, falsely
advertising their service and violating computer law.
Police had responded to complaints from many victims and
would forward the case to the Ministry of Public Health for further actions,
Pol Lt-General Surachet said.
The doctors allegedly approached some patients to offer
compensations, he added.(TNA)
