BANGKOK, Nov 21 (TNA)-Thailand and South Africa celebrate their 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties, aiming at boosting two-way trade volumes.
Geoffrey Quinton Mitchell Doidge paid a courtesy call on Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Wednesday to introduce himself as a new South African Ambassador to Thailand.
In the meeting at Government House, they agreed to further strengthen the relations between Thailand and South Africa on this occasion of the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relation this year.
The two countries are holding business seminars on investment opportunities and cooperation to upgrade economic ties.
The Thai prime minister invited South Africa to invest in defense industry at the Easter Economic Corridor (EEC). He asked the Ambassador for support of Thailand’s plan to become a regional hub for aviation maintenance.
Both sides pledged to promote ties pushing each other to become number one trade partner in their respective regions.
Gen Prayut invited South African investors to Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor, pointing especially to the national defense industry as Thailand hopes to become a regional hub for aircraft maintenance.(TNA)
