TOKYO, Oct 8 (TNA)- Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha arrived in Tokyo on Monday to attend the 10th Mekong – Japan Summit in which the five Mekong countries are scheduled to discuss the direction of cooperation with Japan.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Gen Prayut inspected guard of honour before holding a bilateral talk ahead of the two-day summit.
According to the Thai government, Thailand looks to express its strong determination to work for development in the Mekong Sub-region as well as a donor country in partnership with Japan on both bilateral and trilateral frameworks.
During the Japan trip, the Thai prime minister will be granted an audience with the Emperor of Japan. He will meet members of the Japan-Mekong Parliamentary Friendship Association.
The Mekong-Japan Summit Meeting has been held every year since 2009 to strengthen the relationship between Japan and the Mekong countries. Japanese officials said this year the leaders will exchange their views, for further strong growth and development on the areas of connectivity, people and environment. (TNA)
