BANGKOK, Nov 14 (TNA) – Starting January 1, 2024, a single ID card can be used to access healthcare services in all networks in four pilot provinces.
Dr. Chalnan Srikaew, Minister of Public Health, outlined the plan for the unified use of ID cards for healthcare. In the initial phase, the pilot program will be implemented in four provinces: Phrae, Roi Et, Phetchaburi, and Narathiwat.
The ID card will be seamlessly linked to all networks, including clinics, pharmacies, and private sectors, ensuring comprehensive services across the provinces from January 1, 2024. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the program on January 8.
In the second phase, the project will expand to 12 health service zones plus Bangkok. As for the third phase, it will further extend to four additional health service zones, covering the lower central region, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chaiyaphum, Surin and the lower part of the southern region, he said.
Readiness assessments are crucial for each pilot province before the service commencement.
Some networks are already operational, such as in Warin Chamrap District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, where the single ID card can now be utilized to access healthcare service in all networks,” stated the Minister. (TNA)
