NAKHON NAYOK, Aug 17 (TNA) – Officials before dawn Saturday helped rescued
about half a dozen tourists
trapped by forest runoff due to heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok province.
Runoffs hit riverside
resorts around 3.00 a.m. today, officials said.
Volunteers assisted six trapped
tourists from resort houses in a village in the provincial seat. The resort is
situated near a river close to Wang Ta Krai Bridge.
After the flood eased, local residents have cleaned mud and debris from their houses and resorts, officials added.
A villager affected by the rapid runoff said he was unable to move their belongings to
higher ground because the water level rose too quickly.
Rain has stopped in the
province, but water levels at waterfalls in Khao Yai national park remain high by late
Saturday. Red flags have been placed to ban tourists from swimming. (TNA)
